Dean James
CEO, MAMA Group
Dean is a qualified solicitor and holds a Master of Business Administration degree. Having completed his MBA in 1990 he joined Inchcape Plc and held the positions of deputy Chief Executive of Bain Hogg Europe and Group M&A manager for Inchcape. After leaving Inchcape he joined Ernst and Young as a strategy consultant before leaving to join the Mean Fiddler Music Group in April 2000, where he served as COO and CEO before its sale to Clear Channel in 2005.
Dean founded MAMA Group with Adam Driscoll in April 2005 and became Co-Chief Executive after the takeover of Channelfly in December 2005.
In 2007 Dean orchestrated MAMA's move to buy The Mean Fiddler Group, a clutch of famous London venues from US giant Live Nation. Between 2005 and 2010 MAMA was the fastest growing music group in the UK and was acquired by HMV in February 2010. Dean is currently CEO of MAMA Group.
